Middle-eastern dance, aka bellydance, is an ancient and holistic art form, which is believed to originate from the matriarchal societies that worshiped Mother Earth and, later, from the priestesses of ancient Egypt and Greece. Furthermore, it is therapeutic and holistic, because it works on body, mind and soul; its natural moves have a considerable effect on the chakras and meridians of one¢s body. There are many health benefits associated with this dance such as correct body posture, improved body awareness, increased flexibility, graceful moves, and feelings of happiness.
